Timpson High School Band Earns Straight First Division Ratings

May 3, 2017 - On Wednesday, April 26 the Timpson High School Band competed at the UIL Region 21 Concert and Sightreading Contest held at Troup High School. The band earned a first division rating from all 6 judges at the contest!

Some of the judges’ comments were as follows:

  • “Nice march style, great tone, balance, blend, tuning and phrasing.”
  • “I love your dynamic contrast.  BRAVO!”
  • “Excellent qualities. Band has a mature balanced sound.”
  • “Nice flute sounds—good tone and vibrato!!”
  • “Outstanding soloists!”
  • “This is a really nice looking group of students. Sharp uniforms!”
  • “It’s great to see the students supported by so many parents and administrators!” 
  • “I continue to be impressed with your incredible control, balance, blend, and tuning.”
  • “You played an amazing concert today. Thanks for a musical treat.”
  • “You are a credit to your school, your town, and to music education in the state of Texas. Congrats!”

The Timpson Band is directed by Rhonda Daniel and John Dupnik. Both directors are very proud of the students’ hard work this year and look forward to the bands’ effort and success in the coming years. Thanks to all of the parents, band boosters, and the faculty and staff of Timpson ISD for  supporting this band program!
