Timpson HS Band Wins 1st Place at NAMMB Competition

November 4, 2019 - The Timpson High School Band has had an exciting marching season full of many great performances and awards! On Saturday, November 2 the Timpson High School Bear Band performed at the National Association of Military Marching Bands (NAMMB) competition held at Homer Bryce Stadium -Stephen. F. Austin State University.

The band earned a first division rating from all five judges, and received the coveted “Bobby Goff Superior Performance Award.” The Bear Band also received the “Colonel Joe Tom Haney Award” for First Place in Class 2A at the competition!

Some of the judges’ comments from the competition were: “Excellent sounds – great style, nice dynamic contrast, and great clarity. A very musical presentation.” “Good execution of fundamentals.” “Nice spirited presentation, good use of the field.” “Nice drill, well done!” “Well prepared and planned.”

The band has ten seniors: Ashlynn Lindgren-flute and drum major, Sanna Curtis-clarinet, Brittany Hutto-saxophone, Bradley Young-trumpet, Kayleigh Wolf-trumpet, Julieta De Leon-trumpet, Fransisco Flores-trombone, Corey Branton-baritone, Chris Lewis-baritone, Fabian Martinez-tuba.
