Timpson HS Introduces Graduating Class of 2016

May 18, 2016 - Timpson High School introduces the graduating class of 2016.

Bethany Ann LindgrenThe Valedictorian is Bethany Ann Lindgren who is the daughter of Ronald and Darla Lindgren. Her grandparents are W. A. and Mae Lindgren of Fred and Horace and Dorothy Fletcher of Lufkin. Bethany will graduate with at GPA of 100.2167 and 24 hours of college credit.

Stephen Chandler BurgayThe Salutatorian is Stephen Chandler Burgay who is the son of Stephen and Belinda Burgay. His grandparents include Linda Brown, Betty Burgay and the late Stanley Burgay, Paul and Lorri Brown, Larry and Karen Harrelson and great grandmothers Estelle Burgay and Shirley Lovelady McAnally. He will be graduating with a GPA of 98.4917 and has accumulated 24 college hours as a dual credit student.

Bethany Ann Lindgren is the daughter of Ronald and Darla Lindgren. Her grandparents are W. A. and Mae Lindgren of Fred and Horace and Dorothy Fletcher of Lufkin. Bethany will graduate with at GPA of 100.2167 and 24 hours of college credit.

While attending Timpson High School, Bethany has received many honors including being elected class president her sophomore and senior years, elected Homecoming Queen her senior year and most recently the student body has chosen her as “Miss THS”. Bethany has been a band member and majorette for the past six years and “Head Majorette” her senior year. She has qualified for state twirling contest her junior and senior years.

As a member of Timpson FFA Bethany has served as chapter officer for two years and been a member for four years. She has received the Star Greenhand Award and has been a participant in multiple FFA contests. Bethany has been part of a successful Chapter Conducting team that advanced to area competition. Also as a FFA member, Bethany has had many animal exhibitor projects. The projects took her to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Austin Livestock Show, Shelby County Livestock Show and the Shelby County Poultry Festival.

Bethany has been an officer in many organizations including serving as FFA Treasurer and Sentinel, and class Vice President her freshman year. She has also been a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a Young Ambassador. Bethany is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and FCCLA. She attends church and is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.

Competing in UIL, Bethany has been very successful. She has participated in Prose, advancing to regional contest her senior year. Bethany has enjoyed starring in One Act Play for four years, being selected as an honorable mention “All Star Cast” and “All Star Cast” member numerous times.

Bethany has been chosen for the Timpson High School homecoming court each year as freshmen class duchess, band sweetheart her sophomore year and JCC sweetheart her junior year.

Upon graduation, Bethany will attend Texas A & M University at College Station. She plans to major in Animal Science and is interested in a career in poultry production or community agriculture education through the Texas A & M Agri-Life Extension service.


Stephen Chandler Burgay is the son of Stephen and Belinda Burgay. His grandparents include Linda Brown, Betty Burgay and the late Stanley Burgay, Paul and Lorri Brown, Larry and Karen Harrelson and great grandmothers Estelle Burgay and Shirley Lovelady McAnally. Chandler has attended Timpson ISD beginning in kindergarten through twelfth grade. He will be graduating with a GPA of 98.4917 and has accumulated 24 college hours as a dual credit student.
 
While in high school, Chandler has enjoyed many activities and received numerous honors. He was recently elected “Mr. THS” by the student body. Chandler has been a member of the Beta Club for four years, serving as the president his senior year. He currently serves as the vice president of the senior class.

He has been a member of FFA for four years, serving as an officer for two years, advancing to state forestry contest his junior year and has received the Lone Star Degree. Chandler has raised chickens for the East Texas Poultry Festival and qualified for the sale his senior year.

As a founding member of the THS Bass Club and member of SETX High School Fishing Association, Chandler has placed in the Top Ten Anglers of the Year his junior and senior years.

He has been involved in THS football, basketball, baseball and track every year. As a football player, he has been recognized as “First Team All-District Offense”, “First Team All-District Defense”, and the “First Team All-District Punter”. As a track and field competitor, Chandler advanced to area and region his junior and senior years and will be competing in discus at the State meet as a senior. Chandler has also been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes all years in high school, and has served as president for the past three years.

He has competed in academic UIL and was selected as a member of the All Star Cast for One Act Play his senior year. He was also part of the first place Current Issues and Events team that advanced to the Regional UIL contest.

Chandler has been a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a Young Ambassador. He enjoys working with his community and is a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. Upon graduation, Chandler will attend Stephen F. Austin State University and will pursue a major in History with a minor in Kinesiology.
