Timpson ISD Bear Update: Constitution Day, BITS to Launch

September 21, 2015 - Constitution Day
Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the United States Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787. Timpson High School teacher Tracy Rucker incorporated a variety of learning activities related to the learning about the U.S. Constitution in his history class during Constitution Week. “Which Founder Are You” allowed them to answer a variety of questions to see which signer of the Constitution they most resembled. “Power Play” let students make choices to determine powers delegated to State or Federal government while “U.S. Constitution Power Grab” provided them an opportunity to analyze given scenarios by searching the Articles and Bill of Rights documents to tell which branch of government is abusing its power. Students were exposed to the backgrounds of many of the founding fathers and enjoyed the learning experience! If you would like to see which founding father and signers of the constitution you are most like take the 11 question quiz at http://constitutioncenter.org/foundersquiz/.

BITS NS7 WILL NOT  LAUNCH TOMORROW, THURSDAY 9/24, 9am.

According to BITS sponsor Roy Platt, two  out of the three weather websites we rely on predict extensive cloudiness with varying chances of rain throughout the area.  That leaves us in the unwanted scenario of launching in borderline conditions and recovering the device in even worse conditions.  Because the cameras and instruments we use are not water safe we have to err on the side of caution.  Cloudy skies obstruct much of what can be seen and learned.  So with all of that we are going to reschedule.  We will regroup and watch for other opportunities as the weather presents itself.

TES Ice Cream Social - Timpson Elementary School had a very successful ice cream social for students and parents Thursday Sept. 18. Parents first visited their child's teacher  to pick  up their third week progress report and then received a special ticket to attend an ice cream social in the elementary cafeteria. Both the students and parents had an enjoyable time visiting with teachers and enjoying an ice cream treat. The TES staff worked very hard to make this a special event for parents and students.

TES Campus Shirts For Sale - Timpson Elementary School has extended the sales of their campus t-shirt for $15 until Oct. 5th. Long sleeve t-shirts are $19. You can stop by the elementary office and place an order.  A copy of the order form with a photo of the shirt is attached.
