Timpson ISD Bear Update: Moore and Piro Accepted to Summer Academy

April 13, 2015 - Students Accepted to Summer Academy - Timpson High School students Jamie Moore and Chris Piro were recently notified that they have been accepted into the United States Marine Corps Summer Leadership and Character Development Academy July 20-26. The academy is a strategic initiative designed to attract our nation’s top performing high school students by offering a one-week leadership program in the Washington, D.C. area . The academy located in Quantico, Virginia for ISD high school rising juniors and seniors will:

  • Provide leadership training, character development, ethics lessons, and college admissions guidance
  • Leadership opportunity and personal development with a community service component

Key components of the academy will include:

  • Team Building
  • Leadership & Ethics Case Studies & Activities
  • Daily Physical Fitness Classes
  • Distinguished Speakers
  • Community Guidance and Advice
  • Introduction to NROTC-Marine Option and Other Officer Program Opportunities
  • Visits to Washington, D.C. (Holocaust Museum, Congressional Visits, Dept. of Education)

Students return from the academy to their school and community with enhanced leadership skills and a heightened appreciation for ethics, morals, values and community service. Timpson High School Go Center Director Vernett Richardson said he is very proud of Jamie and Chris for being accepted into the academy.
