Timpson ISD Partners with UTPB; 40 Students Travel to Odessa for Summer Program

June 15, 2017 - Timpson ISD is partnered with the University of Texas at Permian Basin (UTPB). UTPB offered Timpson’s students an unbelievable opportunity last week. Timpson had 40 students travel to Odessa for a summer bridge program. The students worked diligently with professors and faculty from UTPB. The students were given intense instruction in reading, writing, and math.

This enabled them to take their TSI test at the end of the week. We had an enormous amount of success with this test. UTPB incurred the cost for student housing, meals, instruction, and transportation for our students who are a part of our Collegiate Center. Timpson ISD is offering Associate’s Degrees, technical certifications, and powerful STEM instruction to all of our students. Timpson ISD students were given an opportunity to live a week like a college student and begin forming relationships with collegiate staff.

Timpson ISD is proud of our collegiate center students! We had 99.3% passing rate on the courses our students took for dual credit hours this spring and a 100% passing rate in the fall. We began the 2016-2017 school year with 30 students in our dual credit program and currently have 118 students compliant is some area of their TSI which will open the door for all of these students to take part in this program.

It’s a great day to be a Bear!

Thank you,
