TVMDL Welcomes Dr. C. Gabriel Senties-Cue

April 6, 2017 (Article by Shawn Eyre) - On April 1, C. Gabriel Senties-Cue, MS, MVZ, DACPV, joined the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) as resident director for the agency’s Center, Texas location.

Dr. Senties-Cue comes to TVMDL from the California Animal Health & Food Safety (CAHFS) Lab at Turlock, CA where he focused on avian diagnostics. He also served as the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) coordinator for CAHFS.

“Gabriel Senties-Cue brings a wealth of experience in poultry diagnostics to TVMDL,” said Bruce L. Akey, DVM, MS, TVMDL Director. “His avian diagnostic skills and leadership experience make Dr. Senties-Cue a great fit for the poultry laboratory in Center and a valuable resource for the growing poultry industry in Texas.”

Prior to his work at CAHFS, Dr. Senties-Cue served as an assistant clinical professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University. There he was responsible for avian necropsies, as well as teaching MSU veterinary student’s classes in poultry disease and avian necropsy techniques. Earlier in his career, Dr. Senties-Cue was a clinical fellow assigned to the Newcastle Disease Taskforce at CAHFS.

At TVMDL, Dr. Senties-Cue will be responsible for supervision and leadership of the Center laboratory staff as well as providing excellent customer service to laboratory clients by supervising and performing poultry diagnostics.

Dr. Senties-Cue received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1980 and a master of science in Avian Sciences from the University of California – Davis in 1985. In 2002, Dr. Senties-Cue completed his residency in Avian Medicine from University of California – Davis.
