Two Days, 13 Authors at the Library's Open House This Weekend

February 18, 2025 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library, located at 619 Tenaha Street, in Center, Texas, would like to invite and welcome you to the Open House on Friday, February 21, from 10am to 4pm, and Saturday, February 22, from 10am to 2pm, to celebrate their recent remodel of the library interior.

In addition to the changes, there will be several area-wide authors throughout both days giving readers an opportunity to visit with the writers about their writing experiences. On Saturday, there will be special activities planned for children as the library celebrates Take a Kid to the Library Day.

The following authors will be in attendance:

  • Author and Shelby County resident, Larry Enmon will be here to sign your previously purchased books, and talk about his political thrillers and crime stories, one of which is set in the East Texas area. (Saturday 10 - 12 noon)
  • Billie Gundren, a Jasper resident, will be on hand to talk about her historical nonfiction book which is set during the Civil War in Vicksburg, Mississippi. (Friday 12 - 2pm)
  • Another historian, Betty Oglesbee, San Augustine native, will share about her books which were c o-written with her husband, and present her latest addition to her children’s books. (Friday 2 - 4pm)
  • Charlotte Corbell Ingle, from Lufkin, will share her memoirs, bringing family stories about growing up in the East Texas area, primarily in Huxley, and her latest book, Christmas Under the Pines. Her writing styles takes her readers to those childhood memories of growing up and the joy of Christmas. (Friday 12 - 2pm)
  • Vanessa Davis, Center resident, will share her inspirational story, Rebound, a story of overcoming and bouncing back. She shares from her heart how even through adversity there can be victory. (Friday 10 - 12 noon)
  • Dan Fleming, Shelbyville resident, will have his book, The Feasts of John, an in-depth study of the Book of John in the Bible, sharing his experience as teacher of the Word of God for more than 30 years. (Saturday 10 - 12 noon)
  • Carmen Whitaker, up and coming young author, will share her Christian romance, and her incredible journey as a writer. (Friday 10 - 12 noon)
  • Rosie Deskin, writing as Annabelle Blythe, will be on hand to talk about her two Christian romance books. Rosie is a long-time Shelby County resident with her history around the beautiful Crystal Lake area. (Friday 10 - 2pm)
  • Pamela Thibodeaux, from Lake Charles area, (friend and editor of Rosie Deskin) will be here to share her novels, and her inspirational books on life coaching and moving forward to achieve personal goals. (Friday 10 - 2pm)
  • Regina Brazzel, Shelby County resident, will be on hand to share her youth fiction, and her most recent book about the life of Fred, her adopted Labrador fur buddy. (Saturday 10 - 12 noon)
  • Tiffany Bryant is a retired educator. She will be here to share her stories about Teddy, a dog with a special talent. (Saturday 10 - 12 noon)
  • Laura Mae Murphy, former law enforcement officer, has fulfilled her lifelong dream recently, turning her dream into reality with her book release, 'I Can Do This,' sharing words with important messages of encouragement and lessons creating empathy through literature for elementary age children. Laura has had several children’s books published. (Friday 2 - 4pm)
  • Terri Lacher, author/illustrator and speaker, will be sharing her colorful children’s books which feature positive, scripture-based stories, designed to encourage children and remind both parents and children that everyone is special and created to do their very best, which is always good enough. (Friday 10 - 12 noon, Saturday 10 - 12 noon)

The Fannie Brown Booth library staff are eager to share their new look in the library. The changes are designed to make reading and studying at your local library a pleasant experience for all ages. They look forward to seeing you then!
