April 24, 2015 - LUFKIN – TxDOT officials have announced a ramp closure in Nacogdoches County and a traffic detour is planned April 27-29.
The US 59 South entrance ramp from US 259 South will be closed beginning Monday during the daytime hours. Officials plan to reroute traffic to FM 343 through Wednesday or until work is complete, weather permitting.
Crews will replace the guard rail along the entrance ramp and the closure is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists and workers in the area. Lighted message boards will be placed well ahead of the detour to alert motorists to the traffic pattern change.
Drivers should remain alert and watch for workers or signs instructing them of the detour. Slow down and drive to conditions throughout the area. Do not become distracted while driving through a work area or during traffic detours in order to remain as alert as possible. Watch for changing traffic patterns and slowing traffic at all times in order to avoid a crash.
