TxDOT Approves San Augustine, Angelina, Shelby Projects Totaling $6.8 Million

August 1, 2017 – The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved nearly $488.3 million in new construction projects statewide, with three located in the Lufkin District.

The new projects total $6.8 million and are located in San Augustine, Angelina and Shelby counties. The work includes bridge replacements and right-of-way work.

San Augustine County was awarded a $5.3 million project at the Attoyac River on SH 21. The project includes the removal and replacement of two bridge structures located at the Attoyac River and the Attoyac River Relief. Drewery Construction, Nacogdoches TX, will serve as contractor for the project. No timeline for completion has been determined.

Angelina County was awarded an $890,456 construction project located on US 69, south of Lufkin. The project limits are from FM 844 south of Huntington to FM 1270 south of Zavalla. The work is the beginning phase of a construction project designated to widen the roadway to four lanes. This project will consist of clearing the right of way. R& M Inc., Wellborn, TX will serve as contractor for the project. No timeline for completion has been determined.

Shelby County was awarded a $619,833 construction project located on CR 4059 at Poor Joe Creek, CR 4293 at the tributary of Chicken Bayou and on CR 1440 at the tributary of Irish Creek. The work includes bridge removal and replacements at all three locations. Drewery Construction will serve as contractor for the project. No timeline for completion has been set.

As these projects begin, motorists are urged to stay alert, obey all traffic control devices and prepare for possible delays through work zones. All work schedules are subject to change in inclement weather.
