TxDOT Reports Work to Begin on US 59 Median in Nacogdoches

June 17, 2016 LUFKIN – Construction crews have begun setting traffic barriers in preparation for median construction on US 59 in Nacogdoches County.

Approximately 1,100-foot of concrete median will be set south of SL 224 in Nacogdoches on US 59 in what is the existing center two-way left turn lane. In addition, work will continue on nearby sidewalks and driveways throughout the project. Repairs and replacements of curb and gutter and various sections of pavement structure are being built on the widening project both north and south of Spradley Street.

“Construction of the raised median on US 59, south of the Nacogdoches loop, should go smoothly and progress fairly quickly if we continue to have good weather,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the Lufkin District. “As workers place barriers and begin the concrete median, we urge motorists to reduce their speed and pay close attention to traffic patterns through this area.”
