Know Someone Needing Assistance? U.M. Army Coming to the Center Area

May 18, 2022 (Client Referral Application) - Armed with hammers and paintbrushes, more than 50 workers with a mission, will descend on the Center area as part of U.M. ARMY (United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission by Youth).

The Center U.M. ARMY will include high school students who have completed the 8th grade, and adults from United Methodist Churches in Tyler, Chandler, Hallsville, and Baytown. This group will be in Center during the week of June 5th.

These volunteers each pay $275 to spend their week helping those unable to help themselves. They will be busy with wheelchair ramps, handrails, porch work, painting, yard work and much more. They prepare their own meals, bring their own tools and purchase their own materials for a week of work which begins at 5:30 am and ends with worship time each night.

We are blessed that we are part of the 48 different cities that are helping an estimated 1,000 families. Over 4,000 participants will make up U.M. ARMY this summer.

If you know of someone that would benefit from a U.M. ARMY project this summer, please contact Kelli Snider (936) 598-2707 at First United Methodist Church located at 211 Porter Street, Center, Texas 75935 to complete a client referral application. Client referral applications are also available at the Shelby County Outreach Ministries located at 906 Shelbyville Street, Center, Texas 75935.

Please note that owners must own their home for work to be done!
