VFW Community Service Awards

September 23, 2016 - Annually, VFW Posts and its Auxiliary members around the country and overseas volunteer almost 9 million service hours and donate over $49 million to local community service programs.
 
At the post meeting on Monday, September 19th, Shelby County Memorial VFW Post Senior Vice Commander Newton Johnson, Jr. presented Post Commander Gene Hutto with a 100 hour volunteer certificate and Post Service Officer John Piersol with a 300 hour lapel pin.  These hours were contributed as members of the Post Honor Guard that renders Final Military Funeral Honors at the request of county families.
