VFW Post 8904, Auxiliary Honors Flag Day

June 14, 2019 - In the United States, flag day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777.

The United States Army also celebrates their 244th birthday today having been established June 14, 1775.

In 1916, president Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as flag day. In August 1946, national Flag Day was established by an act of congress but is not an official federal holiday.

Today as we have in past years, new flags will be hoisted by Post Commander Gene Hutto.

The group then recited the Pledge of Allegiance to our newly rasied United States Flag.
