March 17, 2026 - The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 was signed into law by US President Donald J. Trump, designating March 29th as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. On March 29, 1973, 53 years ago, the last US Combat Troops departed Vietnam, and Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged prisoners of war.
To remember those who served in the Vietnam War, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 will host a wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans Memorial, 1885 Historic Courthouse, Center, Texas, on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10am.
