This Week’s Shelby County Football

September 8, 2020 - Last Friday saw Joaquin and Tenaha high school’s varsity football games get cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

The JHS Rams now stand at 1-0. The Rams last played two weeks ago when they defeated the Beckville Bearcats 8-6 in Joaquin to move their record to 1-0. This week they will travel to Groveton for a Friday night game at Indians Stadium on September 11, 2020. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. The Indians beat Lovelady 36-16 at home last week. Their record stands at 2-0.

Tenaha’s game with Arp was cancelled. They last played on the road two weeks ago and fell 42-29 to Honey Grove. The Tigers will travel to Kountze High School for a Friday game with the Lions on September 11. Kountze is 1-0 they defeated West Hardin last week on the road by a 40-0 score. Kickoff at Lions Stadium is at 7 p.m.

The Center Roughriders got in the win column last Friday with a 48-0 road win over the Jefferson Bulldogs. The ‘Riders are now 1-1. They will face Gladewater at Roughrider’s Stadium on Friday September 11 at 7:30 p.m. Gladewater is 1-1. They beat Spring Hill 66-20 last week.

The Shelbyville Dragons are now 0-2 after they lost a tough road game to Huntington High School by a 14-7 score. They will face the Waskom Wildcats this Friday at Shelbyville. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Waskom shut out West Hardin 40-0 at home last week. They are 1-0.

The Timpson Bears are 2-0 after they beat Alto on the road at Yellowjackets Stadium by a 48-6 score. They will host the Mount Enterprise Wildcats on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats are 0-1 and lost at Cayuga 38-12.
