This Week in Shelby County Football: Bi-District Playoffs

November 5, 2022 - Four of five of Shelby County’s varsity football teams took wins this past week. Joaquin had a bye week. This week begins the Bi-district round of the Texas UIL Football Playoffs.

The Center Roughriders finished regular season play with a 70-28 road win at Brownsboro. They ended with a 7-3 overall record and they were 3-2 in District 8 4A-2 conference action. This week the ‘Riders will travel to Hallsville’s Bobcats Stadium to face Liberty Eylau (7-3) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022.

The Joaquin Rams are now 5-1 in District 11 2A-1 and 7-2 overall this season. The Rams will face the Leon Cougars (7-3) in a bi-district playoff football game which will be held on Friday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be played at the Jacksonville High School's Tomato Bowl Stadium.

The Timpson Bears are 10-0 overall and 6-0 in District 11 2A-1. After beating Garrison 44-38 at Bulldogs Stadium last Friday. The Bears will face the Groveton Indians (3-7) in bi-district at Jasper Bulldogs Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The Shelbyville Dragons are 5-5 overall and 3-3 in District 11 2A-1 action after beating the visiting West Sabine Tigers by a 53-46 score last Friday. Shelbyville will face the Centerville Tigers (8-2) for a bi-district playoff on Friday, November 11 at 7:30pm at Diboll Lumberjacks Stadium.

The Tenaha Tigers are now 5-5. They are 3-2 in District 11 2A-2 play. The Tigers beat the Overton Mustangs by a 51-14 score. The Tigers will face the Deweyville Pirates (7-3) at 7:00 pm Friday, November11 at Woodville Eagles Stadium.
