This Week in Shelby County Football: Week 9

All five Shelby County varsity football teams took wins this past week.

The Center Roughriders are now 5-2 overall. They have a 2-1 record in District 8 4A-2 conference action. They hosted the Van Vandals and took a 63-21 win. This week the ‘Riders travel to Carthage on Friday, October 21, 2022 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Bulldogs Stadium. Carthage is 8-0 after winning 49-0 over the Eagles at Rusk on Friday.

The Joaquin Rams are now 4-0 in District 11 2A-1 action this season. The Rams traveled to San Augustine’s Wolves and won 57-0. The Rams are 6-1 overall. They will host the 7-0 Timpson Bears on Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m. The Bears are 3-0 in the district after beating West Sabine 70-8 at Timpson on Friday.

The Shelbyville Dragons They are 4-3 this season and 1-2 in District 11 2A-1 competition. They traveled to Grapeland’s Sandies Stadium where they won 55-34. The Dragons will host the San Augustine Wolves on Friday, October 21. Kickoff at Dragons Stadium is at 7 p.m. the Wolves are 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

The Tenaha Tigers are now 3-4. They are 1-1 in District 11 2A-2 play. The Tigers hosted the Alto Yellowjackets and they came back from a deficit to win 43-42. This week they will travel to Cushing for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday, October 21 at Bearkats Stadium. Cushing (5-2, 1-1) hosted Overton and won in overtime 22-15 on Friday.
