December 26, 2023 - The 1885 Historic Courthouse will be open for tours in 2024 starting Thursday, January 11, 2024. The courthouse tour schedule in 2024 will be Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm until 4:30pm. Saturday tours or tours for groups of 8 or more are available with a minimum of 1 week advance notice needed.
February 18, 2023 - The legal entry of Texas into the Union was December 29, 1845, but the decade-old Republic of Texas did not formally transfer its authority from the State of Texas to the United States of America until February, 19, 1846.
February 9, 2023 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) are honored to announce Gabriella Mendoza, a 4th grader at Tenaha ISD, was the Chapter Winner in the 2023 DRT Texas History Essay Contest. Mendoza's essay advances to the District contest.
May 7, 2019 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic will have the final meeting of the 2018-2019 year on Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 AM at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center.
During the business session upcoming summer activities for the chapter will be presented, including the Convention in Austin in May and the District workshop in Crockett in August. Bonnie Dorman will share a program on her ancestors, the Anderson family.
April 8, 2019 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet Saturday, April 13, at 10:00 AM at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center. The chapter will elect and install officers for the 2019-2021 term. We will also discuss the upcoming 2019 DRT Convention in Austin. If you are planning on attending the convention, fill out the registration form on the DRT web site and bring your check to the meeting. Also 2019 dues will be accepted in April or May.
February 25, 2019 - March is Texas History Month. The public is invited to join with the William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas at noon on Friday, March 1, by the DRT building on the Courthouse Square in Center. We will pay tribute to Texas Independence Day, Texas Flag Day, the birthday of Sam Houston and the heroes of the Alamo and Goliad. We'll tell you about some of the women and children who survived the Battle of the Alamo.
March 27, 2023 - Today, March 27, is one of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas' Honor Days - Goliad Heroes Day.
