February 7, 2020 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on February 18, 2020 at 2pm in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The speaker this month will be Carolyn Bounds. She will speak to us about Raiford Stripling who was a native of San Augustine. He was a well known architect who worked all over the world. There are several houses in Shelby and San Augustine Counties that he designed. Everyone is invited to attend.
November 7, 2019 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on November 19, 2019 at 2pm in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street.
The speaker this month will be Mrs. Merle Howard. She will speak to us about the Center School Bell. The history of the bell dates back to the late 1800’s. Mrs. Howard has done research and found there is a mystery involved in its history.
November 20, 2018 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting November 20, 2018 at 2pm at the Shelby County Museum located on Pecan Street. Mr. Larry Hume will be in charge of the program this month. Everyone is invited to attend.

Our guest speaker this month will be Maggie Casto. She is a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and she will speak to us about the "DRT Traveling Trunk." Everyone is invited to attend.
May 12, 2016 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting May 17, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Connie Mettauer. She will speak to us about "The Murder of Marlie Childs."
This murder took place on Fields Street here in Center, Texas. Connie knows this subject very well as she once lived in this house on Fields Street. Everyone is invited to attend.
December 4, 2015 - Shelby County Museum will have an open house from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 to introduce our new display on the Civil War. Mr. Roger Doyle will be here to demonstrate and answer question about the display. Everyone is invited so we hope to see you there.
