July 22, 2015 - Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Forestry Association are offering a free workshop next month for landowners, foresters and others in the Texas forest sector.
Topics include: How to identify the current health of your woodlands; easy-to-follow recipes for increasing woodland health; record keeping to track Texas laws, family heritage; and a panel discussion on available assistance programs.
June 29, 2015 - It’s that time of year when fireworks stands open and big plans are made for the July 4th holiday. If fireworks, grilling or hanging out by a campfire are part of your celebration this year, Texas A&M Forest Service urges caution.
“According to the National Fire Protection Association, July 4th has the most fires reported than on any other day and fireworks account for two out of five of those fires, more than any other cause of fire,” TFS Wildland Urban Interface Department Head Bruce Woods said.

January 7, 2015 - COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Changing the way the South recognizes and prepares for wildfire, a 17-year Texas A&M Forest Service employee was honored Tuesday with the Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Public Service in Forestry.
Geospatial Systems Coordinator Curt Stripling received the award during the annual Texas A&M AgriLife Conference held at Texas A&M University’s flagship campus in College Station.
