JP1 Office Handles Citations on Multiple Burn Ban Violators

August 25, 2023 - Donna Hughes, Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, has received multiple burn ban citations for individuals, and each of those class c misdemeanor tickets are from any type of burning (barrels, cigarettes etc) and the fire was still “under control.”

Fines are being set at $500, plus court costs. If the fire has caused any damages the violator can be charged with a higher than class c offense. Meaning arrest, bail, County or District court, depending on the degree.
