November 17, 2015 - Panola College rodeo team traveled to Conroe, TX this weekend for the fifth and final rodeo of the fall season. The rodeo was held indoors the ground was good and dry and made for a very even competition. The rodeo at Conroe was the first of the year to have a short round, where the top ten in each event come back for a second run. This makes for a two head competition, which pays an average and increases the very important team points.
October 16, 2015 - Panola College rodeo made a short trip this weekend to Pittsburg, Texas for the 3rd Southern Region rodeo. The rodeo hosted by N.E.T.C.C. was a very fast pace arena with lots of new challenges because of the very small size of the arena. Rodeo arenas, unlike some other sports, may differ in length, width, and ground conditions. Pittsburg’s arena proved to be tough for some, while others seemed to feel right at home.
October 6, 2015 - The Panola College rodeo team traveled to Uvalde, Texas this weekend for the 2nd Southern Region rodeo. The women’s team continued their hot streak by finishing 2nd overall. The men’s team struggled a little bit, but was able to put enough points on the board to stay in the top 5 of the men’s team in the Southern Region.
Bailey Plaisier made a bareback ride good enough to finish in 6th place, and get some team points on the board for Panola College. The Canadian bareback rider is a single event cowboy attending his first year at Panola College.
September 28, 2015 - Panola College rodeo team was ready when it came time for the first NIRA Southern Region rodeo September 25, 26 at the Panola County Cattleman’s Arena. The impressive amount of fans, and beautiful weather made very exciting competition.
February 17, 2015 - Panola College bareback rider, Wyatt Denny, increased his lead in the Southern Region Standings with two outstanding rides this past weekend in Athens, Texas. Denny, scored 79 points on Friday and 80 points Saturday night to move to a remarkable lead over the rest of the bareback riding competition. Denny, has been extremely hot throughout the season and finds himself with a 300 point lead in the Southern Regional Standings.
