June 18, 2015 - For many children, Father’s Day means giving gifts, enjoying traditions and making memories with their fathers, grandfathers and father figures. But for children in the foster care system, the day can be a painful reminder of their past.
Unfortunately, many children in foster care do not have a reliable father figure in their lives. Removed from their homes due to evidence of abuse or neglect, they are not guaranteed to be placed in state care near their loved ones. It is a constant cycle of uncertainty.
April 29, 2015 - Every May, we honor our mothers for the compassion and love they have unselfishly provided. While we take the time to celebrate and reflect on the support that we sometimes take for granted, there are children struggling in the child welfare system without a caring mother or mother figure in their lives.
April 20, 2015 - CASA of Deep East Texas welcomes three new CASA/GAL's to Nacogdoches County. Honorable Judge Klein swore in Amy Reed, Debra Judge, and Elizabeth 'Sam' Pederson on April 20, 2015. They will soon be the voice for a child in foster care and stand up for them in court. The next tentative training is scheduled for June. Applications are being accepted. For more information on how to become a CASA/GAL (Guardian ad Litem), please call Kim Herman, Recruitment Specialist at #936-560-4711.
March 9, 2015 - As part of March’s National Social Work Month celebration, CASA of Deep East Texas recognizes and thanks those who devote their lives to bettering the lives of others. Social workers strive to build a stronger community for all people, and CASA is a proud partner in the effort to secure a brighter future for children in the foster care system.
