Public Notice of Testing of Automatic Tabulating Equipment for May Elections

March 24, 2025 - Notice is hereby given that the automatic tabulating equipment that will be used in the May Cities and Schools Elections, held on May 3, 2025, will be tested on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28, 2025, at 9am, in the Shelby County Clerk’s office in Center, to ascertain that it will accurately count the votes cast for all offices and on all measures.

May 3rd Elections for Cities, Schools Ballot by Mail Request

February 20, 2025 - There will be an election on Saturday, May 3, 2025 for cities and schools in Shelby County. If you usually vote by mail and have not already contacted my office for an application, please go ahead and call so we can mail those applications to you. You may call 936-234-2147 or 936-598-5340.

The entities that will have an election in May are Joaquin ISD, Shelbyville ISD, Timpson ISD, City of Joaquin, City of Tenaha and City of Timpson.

Elections Administrator Explains "How to Know Your Voting Precinct"

November 4, 2024 - Shelby County Elections Administor Nancy Adams shares information on understanding your voter's registration card and how to know which voting precinct you are located.

"I have recently spoken with a few voters who don't understand where they are supposed to vote for the November 5 General Election," shared Adams. "One of the voters I spoke with thought she was in precinct 2 because her commissioner, justice of the peace and constable are all precinct 2. However, she actually votes in precinct 6, because she LIVES in that precinct."

October 3, 2024 - Notice is hereby given that the automatic tabulating equipment that will be used in the General Election held on November 5, 2024, will be tested on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., in the County Clerk’s office, 124 Austin Street in Center, to ascertain that it will accurately count the votes cast for all offices and on all measures.

Elections Administrator Addresses Incorrect Social Media Election Information

August 5, 2024 - Recently I saw the following post on social media: “… if you are checking in at the polls and they happen to write anything on your ballot before they give it to you, please request a new ballot. Your ballot could be disqualified if it is written on. Please be on the lookout for this type of behavior.” 

I do not know about other states, but this is absolutely not true in Texas, per the Texas Election Code.

Polling Places for Primary Run-off for Sheriff and Constable Pct. 3

April 25, 2024 - The Primary run-off for Shelby County Sheriff and Shelby County Constable Precinct 3 will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Early voting will be at the Community House, 423 San Augustine Street in Center, Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24, from 7am to 7pm each day.

There will be seven polling locations open on Election Day, Tuesday, May 28, as follows:

Early Voting Turnout for May 28 Runoff for Sheriff, Constable Pct. 3

Early Voting at Community House on San Augustine Street ends Friday, May 24 at 7pm

May 20th Numbers: 132 In-Person Voters, 74 Mail-in, 206 Total (In-Person and Mail-in)
May 21st Numbers: 152 In-Person Voters, 358 Total (All Days)
May 22nd Numbers: 127 In-Person Voters, 15 Mail-in, 500 Total (All Days)
May 23rd Numbers: 141 In-Person Voters, 648 Total (All Days)
