Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District Natural Resources, Agriculture Scholarship Award

June 18, 2020 (Click here for the application) - This year the Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District will be awarding a $1,000 scholar-ship. The scholarship recipient will receive $500 for the fall 2020 semester and another $500 for the spring 2021 semester. The Shelby SWCD Scholarship is open to college students who are working toward a degree in the natural resources or agricultural field.

Soil Health Short Course to Offer Educational Information to Land Managers

February 1, 2019 Temple, Texas – An upcoming Texas Soil Health Short Course will focus on increasing biological wealth with livestock February 26-27, 2019 at the Palestine Civic Center in Palestine, Texas. The workshop will offer attendees a greater understanding of dynamic soil properties including water infiltration, water holding capacity, and organic matter content. Producer’s practical approaches to implementing a Soil Health Management System on their farm will also be discussed.

SWCD Invites Public to FY19 LWG Meetings

July 31, 2018 - The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas and their local Soil and Water Conservation Districts cordially invite the public to attend their FY19 Local Working Group (LWG) meetings. 

The purpose of this annual LWG meeting is to set local conservation priorities and bring conservation stakeholders together to discuss conservation topics and issues relevant to helping their farmers and ranchers better conserve on-farm natural resources.
