October 24, 2022 – Nation’s Report Card Shows Texas is Recovering from the Pandemic in Reading, Much Work Remains in Math 2022 results for the US show broad learning declines, with Texas doing better than most. As Texas educators continue to focus on the difficult task of recovering from pandemic-related learning loss, the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called the Nation’s Report Card, shows both strengths and challenges for Texas, while painting a grim picture for the U.S. as a whole.
June 16, 2022 - Today, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released spring 2022 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) results for end-of-course (EOC) assessments. The results include assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S History.
Task Force to Address Ongoing Staffing Challenges in Public Education
March 11, 2022 —The Texas Education Agency (TEA) today announced the creation of the Teacher Vacancy Task Force to help address staffing challenges facing Texas public schools.
April 6, 2021 - “Earlier today, districts experienced connectivity issues with the STAAR Online Testing Platform (SOTP). We posted updates to the STAAR Assessment Management System dashboard every 10 minutes to keep districts apprised of the progress in resolving the issue.
“The three STAAR tests affected were Grade 4 writing, Grade 7 writing, and English I. This was the first of five days that students were eligible to take one of these three tests online.
March 3, 2021 - On March 2, 2021, Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA-34 which addresses the statewide wearing of face coverings (i.e., masks), which takes effect March 10, 2021. TEA’s authority to implement operational requirements for public schools remains in effect (e.g., TEA’s Public Health Guidance).
STAAR testing will proceed so parents and educators continue to understand what students have learned this year, and to gauge the impact of the pandemic on education
