May 1, 2020 - The Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) Caddo Mounds State Historic Site will re-open for visitors on May 1, 2020, offering its regular business hours until further notice.
The site’s grounds and trails will be open daily to 20 people at one time. The Caddo Mounds Visitor Center will be open on Tuesdays – Sundays and limited to 5 persons at any one time. No golf carts are available, and any on-site programming will remain suspended until further notice.
April 22, 2020 - As families are creating new routines and learning how to educate students from home, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) is providing free instructive resources and online education about Texas history, preservation, and heritage tourism as an alternative to visiting a historic site or museum.

April 17, 2020 - The Texas Historical Commission (THC) is extending the Round XI grant application deadline for its award-winning Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program (THCPP) until Monday, May 11, 2020 at 5pm.
“County governments across the state are struggling with unexpected challenges that impact their normal operations,” said Mark Wolfe, executive director of the THC. “We want to give Texas counties ample time to prepare their applications and take advantage of this fantastic economic development opportunity.”

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) offers awards to recognize worthy accomplishments and exemplary leadership in preserving Texas history. The deadline for submissions for the 2019 THC Preservation Awards is July 12, 2019.
June 11, 2018 - This summer, the Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) state historic sites are participating in the Blue Star Museums program that gives active military personnel and their families free admission to museums and historic sites. The program, coordinated by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), began Memorial Day and lasts through Labor Day (Sept. 3, 2018).
March 9, 2018 - The Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) Texas Heritage Trails Program (THTP) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year by launching a 10-month-long sweepstakes with prize packages offering travel getaways—one to each of the 10 trail regions.
