Shelby County Woman Sentenced for Federal Drug Trafficking Violations

January 12, 2023 - A Center woman has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston today.

Ingrid Yaresi Balderas De Leon, 28, pleaded guilty on July 12, 2022, to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone.

U.S. Marshals, FBI Urge Public to Report Phone Scams

May 10, 2022 - The U.S. Marshals and the FBI are alerting the public of several nationwide imposter scams involving individuals claiming to be U.S. marshals, court officers, or other law enforcement officials. They are urging people to report the calls their Local FBI office and file a consumer complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which has the ability to detect patterns of fraud from the information collected and share that data with law enforcement.

Cuban National Caught in Nacogdoches Sentenced to Federal Prison in Gas Pump Skimmer Scheme

October 21, 2021 - A Cuban national has been sentenced to prison for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei today.

Victor Entenza, 30, pleaded guilty on May 10, 2021 to conspiracy to commit access device fraud and aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft. Entenza was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.

Scam Alert: Feds Warn Residents About Fraudsters Seeking to Profit from Disaster

February 19, 2021 – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas reminds the public that fraudsters soon follow disaster.

As Texas suffers from historic freezing and resulting property damage from ice and burst pipes, it is likely that individuals will seek to fraudulently profit from the attendant stress.

Justice Department Announces DEA Prescription Drug Take-Back for Oct. 28th

October 27, 2017 Beaumont, Texas – Acting United States Attorney Brit Featherston will join the Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Will R. Glaspy on October 28th for its 14th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The biannual event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at thousands of collection sites around the county, including the Eastern District of Texas.  The event is an effort to rid homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
