November 28, 2016 - Lake Wind Advisory is in place from Monday 6:11am to Monday 5:00pm. Strong South to Southwest winds will continue today as an approaching upper level storm system brings strong to severe thunderstorms to the region.
Effected Counties: Sevier, Howard, Little River, Hempstead, Miller, Lafayette, Caddo, Bossier, De Soto, Sabine, McCurtain, Red River, Bowie, Franklin, Titus, Camp Morris, Cass, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Smith, Gregg, Harrison, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Angelina, San Augustine. Including cities of De Queen, Nashville, Mineral Springs, Dierks, Ashdown, Hope, Texarkana, Stamps, Lewisville, Bradley, Shreveport, Bossier City, Mansfield, Stonewall, Logansport, Many, Zwolle, Pleasant Hill, Isabel, Broken Bow, Clarksville, Bogata, Mount Vernon, Mount Pleasant, Pittsburg, Dangerfield, Lone Star, Naples, Omaha, Atlanta, Linden, Hughes Springs, Queen City, Mineola, Winnsboro, Quitman, Hawkins, Gilmer, Big Sandy, Jefferson, Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Jacksonville, Rusk, Henderson, Carthage, Nacogdoches, Center, Lufkin, San Augustine, Hemphill and Vineland.
A tight pressure gradient ahead of a dry line will result in strong south winds of 15 to 25 mph. With higher gusts throughout the day across East Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas and Western Louisiana. These winds will become Southwest with gusts to 30 to 40 mph by this afternoon with the passage of a weak dry line. Gusty winds will makes for hazardous boating conditions on area Lakes. Lake wind advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes, small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
