Lady Dragons Break In To Win Column

December 19, 2016 Shelbyville Dragons Gymnasium - The Shelbyville Lady Dragons improved their 2016-17 season record to 1-5 with a 57-31 home-court win over the San Augustine Lady Wolves on Friday night.

Leading scorer for the Lady Dragons was Bailey Rabalais who had 21 points on the night and scored nine points in the third quarter alone.

Shelbyville never trailed and led 16-8 at the end of the first period of play. The Lady Dragons defense was able to hold the Lady Wolves to just three points in the second stanza. This allowed Shelbyville to take a 29-11 lead into the locker room at the midway break.

Shelbyville was able to get seven steals in the third period and this helped them outpace San Augustine and take a 42-21 advantage in to the final period of play.

SHS scored 15 points in the final stanza while they held the Lady Wolves to ten points using aggressive defense and slowing their own offensive pace at times.

The Lady Dragons will next play Hull-Daisetta at 8 p.m., at a neutral site, which is not yet named on either school’s website or Maxpreps.
