The Center Roughriders Varsity Boy's Basketball Team defeated the visiting Diboll Lumberjacks by a 60-48 score on Tuesday. The Roughriders got 23 points from junior guard Jaterious Evans who made 9 buckets out of 17 attempts. The Roughriders' record now stands at 21-4 and they will begin District 16 4A competition on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Henderson High School, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Henderson Lions have a 15-7 non-district mark.
Tuesday's game saw Center build a 14-10 lead by the end of the opening quarter of play. The Lumberjacks struggled offensively in the second period with the Roughriders outscoring DHS by a 16-5 margin. Center took a 30-15 lead into the locker room at the midway break.
The third quarter was hard fought and saw Diboll gain ground slightly as they outpaced the 'Riders 17 points to 14 and the Lumberjacks pulled to within 32-44 going into the final quarter.
Each team scored 16 points apiece during the final stanza and CHS held on for the 12 margin of victory.
