Lady Tigers Stay In District Hunt With Win Over Lady Bears

January 27, 2017- Tenaha Special Events Center –

Friday night saw the Lady Tigers take an early lead, over the visiting Timpson Lady Bears basketball team, and Tenaha never looked back as they took a 30-point win, by a 70-40 point final score, at home.

Junior guard Bianca Davison hit four 3-pointers during the first half which helped the Lady Tigers take a 24-12 lead by the end of the first period, and a 41-25 lead by halftime.

The Lady Bears got two buckets from junior guard Jasmine Rogers during the third stanza but the Lady Tigers outscored Timpson 19-4 during the frame and Tenaha took an 62-29 advantage into the fourth period.

Jakaria Deckard scored three field goals in the final period to help the Lady Bears outpace Tenaha 11-9 during the final period but it was too-little-too-late as Tenahas’ margin was enough to allow them to employ a defensive game plan, and to hold on for the win.

Sara Duke led the Lady Bears with 13 points, teammate Jasmine Rogers chipped in 12, Jakaria Deckard 9, and Brylee Behrens scored 6 points. The Lady Tigers were led by Brooke McClure with 21, Arlicia Roland 16, Bianca Davison 14, Shayla Parks 6, Jaden Washington 5, Kia Suell 4, and Bianca Ramirez added two points onto the Tenaha scorebook.

The Lady Tigers are now 7-1 in District 22 2A play and trail only Woden High School. Timpson stands at 3-5 in conference action.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Shelbyville High School next Friday, February 3 where JV will start playing at 4:30 p.m. and varsity games will follow.

Timpson will play Shelbyville in Timpson on Tuesday, Jan. 31, with games beginning at 4:30 p.m.
