Lady Roughriders Fall to Rusk Lady Eagles 42-39

Center Roughriders Gymnasium, January 27, 2018 –

The Center Lady Roughriders Varsity Basketball Team’s District 16 4A record fell to 0-6 after a tough 39-42 loss, to visiting Rusk High School, on Friday. This game was a close and hard-fought contest throughout the game which was tied 21-21 at halftime.

The Lady Eagles outscored Center 5-4 in the third period to gain a narrow 26-25 lead going in to the final period of play.

The Lady Eagles got six points in the final period from center Abbie Anderson to help outscore the Lady ‘Riders by a 16-14 point margin and gain the 3-point win. Rusk now has a 2-4 District 16 4A mark.

The Lady Roughriders record falls to 2-16. They were led Jakayla Weathered with 10 points, Taylor Nichols 9, Alex Patton 8, Malaisha Cartwright 5, Jasmine Cooks 4, Kalei LaRock 2, and Shanya Williams scored one point.

Rusk was led by Anderson with15 points.

The Lady Roughriders will travel to Henderson next Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Lion’s Gymnasium. The Lady Lions are 8-14, 3-3 in district competition.
