Letter to the Editor (Endorsement of Kevin Foster) (Pd. Pol. Ad.)

February 2, 2018 - Letter to the Editor

I am going to vote for my neighbor for County Commissioner, Precinct 4.

I know the election is coming up in the first week of March for County Offices, so I am doing something I have never done before. I am endorsing a specific person for County Commissioner, Precinct 4.

First, let me tell you why.

I have lived in the Saxet Community since 2002, and I have known this man since about 2004. I am totally disabled, because of COPD. Yes, I smoked way too long.

I had a motorcycle wreck on April 16, 2007 and since that time, this person, my neighbor and his wife have watched out for me and my late wife.

There have been times, since my wife died, that my neighbors have helped me immensely, without me having to ask. One day, back maybe 5 years ago, I decided to move my F-150 into my back yard, even though I knew it was sloppy wet back there. Well, I got my truck stuck, so decided to pull it out with my old 8N tractor. I mentioned earlier that I have COPD, which requires me to use oxygen, especially when I physically exert myself. That afternoon, I went out back without my oxygen concentrator.

After hooking the chain to the truck and tractor and attempting to pull the truck out, I ran out of oxygen and went into my home to get my oxygen and to take a break. I barely sat down in my living room when I heard a car pull into my driveway. It was my neighbors, who had seen my truck and tractor in the back, but didn't see me, so they came over to check on me. They ended up pulling my truck out and all I had to do was watch. I was truly thankful.

Another time, I was working on my older Ford Ranger. I was changing the Master Cylinder and having a hard time doing it. This neighbor of mine was driving by, saw what I was doing, stopped what he was doing and finished the job for me. Another example, just a few years ago. My 8N wouldn't start so he and I spent several evenings after he got off work, helping me attempt to get it running again. He then offered to load my tractor on his flat bed trailer so I could get it to a repair shop in Center, which we did, and he even picked it up when it was fixed. I offered (each time) to pay him for his help, nope, he would not take anything but thanks.

Now, several years ago, before my son and his family got out of the Army and moved  in with me, I had a flat tire on the back of my F-150, and as I am not physically able to fix it, I called my neighbor and he came by with his BIG Truck before he went home, and fixed my tire.

I am so thankful for neighbors and friends like this, and that is the reasons I am endorsing Kevin Foster for County Commissioner, Precinct 4.

I recommend that my fellow citizens of Precinct 4, also vote for Kevin

Many thanks
