Tigers Start 2018 Varsity Baseball Season

Tenaha Cole DePriest Ballpark, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 –

The Tenaha Tigers Varsity Baseball Team had several players playing basketball just last Friday. The Tiger's team managed to get two total practices worked in to prepare for today’s District 23 Class 2A Varsity Baseball game with Mount Enterprise High School. The Tigers found themselves down 3-2 at the end of the first inning and 6-2 at the end of the third inning after Jones drove in two Wildcats runs with a homerun over the left-centerfield wall.

The Tigers did not give up and they took the lead at 7-6 midway through the contest with five scores from Tavoris Giles, Trenton Soto, Cahl Horn, Brandon Soto, and Erik Smith.

The Wildcats scored six runs in the fourth and fifth innings and took a 13-7 lead. The game was called at the start of the sixth inning due to lack of daylight.

Tenaha Coach Daniel Ball said after the game, “We weren’t able to get much practice thus far. We will take it one game at a time. None of our pitchers were able to throw off a mound until tonight. We are looking forward to a chance to develop and practice our pitchers so we can go out and win some ballgames.”

The Tigers are now 0-1 and will next face Woden next Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Woden High School’s Eagles Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
