March 9, 2020 - You have heard people say ‘she is a wearer of many hats.’ Well, that is a fact for Mother Lucille Wade Cloudy who just celebrated her 90th birthday in February.

You have not only seen a variety of hats on her head, but she has worn many hats in her 90 years of life. Hats come in a variety of colors, brands, styles, materials, and hat boxes. She has a hat of every color to match her outfits.

A closet in her home was used just for her hats. Her hats are a variety of brands, styles, materials, casual, dressy, and sometime scarves. Mother Cloudy wears her hats to church and other classy or casual events and always gets positive comments on her look. You may be lucky to get one or buy one when she gets tired of wearing one.

In her 90 years she has worn many hats on her jobs. She, first of all, has been a great mother to her children and to the church. She has been a mother of eleven, only one deceased, and they have given her many grandchildren, and they have given her many great-grandchildren, and a few great-great may exist. There are many other people who think she is their mother as well. She should never be lonely.

In her early years she wore the hat of a poultry truck driver over the hills and valleys of East Texas, taking guys to work; and other tasks in the business. She has worn the hat of a housekeeper in local hotels. Mrs. Cloudy finally retired after several years at the Hallmark plant. In her past time, she wore the hat of a gardener of vegetables and flowers. The hat of a cook and baker hits the stomach of many people. They love her cakes and pies and many are willing to pay ‘big’ money for them.

How can a lady of her age wear the hat of a traveler? When someone says ‘let us go Mother Lucille.’ She responds, ‘Let me get my hat.’ That has been downsized now since she has Chuckie, her puppy companion, to take care of and cannot take him with her all the time.

Mother Lucille Cloudy has been a hat wearer for all occasions and her service to others is very appreciative.
