The Shelbyville Dragons jumped out to an early 13-0 lead in the first quarter of Friday’s non-district 2020 Homecoming game with the visiting Groveton Indians. By the second period, three early scores by senior runningback LD Coleman had given Shelbyville some distance on the way to allowing the Dragons to take a 41-6 lead into the locker room at the midway intermission. Adaybran Davis and Jakory Standley also added one and two scores respectively, in the first half, as well.
The second half of the game saw plenty of substitutions and a running clock for the most part. Although Groveton was able to outscore Shelbyville by a 21-13 margin in the second half, SHS was able to take away a comfortable 54-27 win to move their overall record to 1-2. Groveton stands at 2-2 for the 2020 season.
The Dragons will enjoy a bye week next Friday. They will host the Timpson Bears on October 2, 2020. The Bears are 4-0 and beat the Carlisle Indians 54-19 on the road last Friday.
