Uethel G. Hayes departed this life on January 25, 2022, in Tyler Texas at the age of 88.
She was born on July 7, 1933 in Center, Texas to the late Ira Goodwin and Faydell Hamilton Smith. She attended public school in Center in her adolescence. A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Hayes never met a stranger. She understood hospitality and generosity; everyone was welcomed at her table.
Viewing is 2pm until 8pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at John R. Harmon Undertaking Company, Tyler, Texas. Homecoming service is at 1pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Center.
She is preceded in death by parents, Ira Goodwin and Faydell Hamilton Smith; husband, Howard Lee McCarty; children, Don Goodwin, Larry Goodwin, Sherry Goodwin, Terry Goodwin, and Jerry Goodwin; siblings, Shirley Mosely, Doc Hollis Goodwin, Velma Pettie, Juanita Roland, Asie B. Goodwin, and Charles Goodwin.
