Smith County Master Gardeners to Host 2024 Nature Detective Camp

May 31, 2024 - Smith County Master Gardeners, Tyler Parks and Recreation, and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service have joined forces once again to host the third annual Nature Detective Camp. Based on the Junior Master Gardener ™ Wildlife Gardener curriculum, the program goal is to foster in each child curiosity about nature, a love for the outdoors, problem solving, leadership, stewardship, and a sense of community.

Back by popular demand, the camp will take place at Glass Recreation Center and Woldert park June 3-6 (Monday-Thursday) from 9:00 am to11:00 am. Camp activities and content are geared for children ages 7-11 and are led by a team of energetic Smith County Master Gardens. The cost of the 4-day camp is $25 per child, which covers all materials including snacks and refreshments. For families with more than one child the cost is $20 per child. Cost should not prohibit a child’s participation, so scholarships are available.

What can participants expect? Daily firsthand learning, time outside exploring Woldert park, opportunities to get up and personal with nature, and four days of fun!

Enrollment is limited, so get your spot now. Register in person at Glass Recreation Center 501 West 32nd Street, Tyler, TX and pay with cash or check.
