This week four of Shelby County’s Five varsity football teams will face bi-district opponents after completing their regular seasons.
The Center Roughriders finished at 8-2 this year by beating the visiting Rusk Eagles by a 38-20 score. Center is the third seed for District 8 4A-2. The Roughriders will travel to Tatum High School to face the 7-3 Gilmer Buckeyes on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Gilmer, the second seed of District 7 4A-2, won at North Lamar by a 56-0 score.
The Joaquin Rams finished the season with a 34-8 loss at Garrison High School. Joaquin is 6-4 and they are the fourth seed of District 11 2A-1. They will travel to Arp Tigers Stadium to face the Centerville Tigers on Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. Centerville finished the regular season at 9-1 and with a 49-20 road win over the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs. They are the one seed of District 12 2A-1.
The Shelbyville Dragons are the number one seed of District 11 2A-1 and they took a 33-8 home win over the Hemphill Hornets last week. The Dragons are at 8-2 this week and they will face the Jewett-Leon Cougars at Nacogdoches Dragons Stadium on Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. The Cougars are 6-4 and they are the fourth seed of District 12 2A-1 after a 27-6 win at Groveton last week.
The Timpson Bears are the third seed of District 11 2A-1 after beating the San Augustine Wolves by a 40-10 score last week to move their record to 5-4. The Bears will travel to Palestine Wildcats Stadium on Friday, November 15 for a 7 p.m. kickoff with the 4-6 Hearne Eagles who last won over Normangee by a 16-6 score. Hearne is the second seed of District 12 2A-1.
