Lady Tigers Earn 60-38 Basketball Win Over Lady Rams in District 23 Opener

The Tenaha Lady Tigers opened District 23 2A-1 Varsity Basketball action with a 60-38 home win over the Joaquin Lady Rams. Tenaha now holds a 13-5 overall mark and Joaquin is at 5-9 this season.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 5-1 point lead early and they led 10-5 midway through the opening period. THS held a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Tenaha outpaced Joaquin 16-12 points in the second frame and they took a 33-21 lead into the halftime intermission.

By the end of the third period THS had grew their led to 21 points at 48-27.

Junior guard Arianna Dagley and senior forward Kaedynce Cox led THS with 17 points each. Freshman guard Angel Alexander scored 13 and freshman Keyala Giles was also in double figures scoring, with ten points. Joaquin was led by junior guard Ellie Anglin with 14 points and sophomore guard Jessie Webb scored 8.

The Lady Tigers will next head to Waskom on Friday, December 20 for a 6 p.m. tipoff at Wildcats Gymnasium.

The Lady Rams will host the Timpson Lady Bears on Friday, December 20 at Rams Gym. Junior varsity action is slated for 4:30 p.m. and varsity girl’s and boy’s games will follow.
