Joaquin High School on Friday, December 20, 2024 –
The Timpson girls and boys varsity basketball teams travelled to Joaquin Rams Gymnasium on Friday to compete in District 23 2A conference games.
The Lady Bears varsity won against the Lady Rams after gaining a 10-5 point lead midway through the first period and they took a 14-9 advantage into the second frame. THS held a 22-13 lead at the midpoint of the second stanza and they had a 26-21 lead at the halftime intermission. The third quarter saw the Lady Bears ahead 32-24 midway through and they led 36-30 going into the final frame. Timpson held a 40-33 point advantage halfway through the final period and held a 48-38 lead by the end of regulation play.
The Lady Bears were led by Cayt Jackson and Taylor Stewart who each had 14 points each. The Lady Rams were led by Ellie Anglin with 16 points and Sevana Stotts with 10.
The Bears boy’s varsity team jumped out to a 21-12 lead by the end of the first period and they led 40-20 at the midway point. They led 52-28 going into the final quarter and they eventually won by a 70-34 final score.
JJ Garner led the Bears with 31 points and teammate Jackson Campbell was also in double figures with 10. The Rams were led by Kaleb Oswalt with 8 points on the night.
