Bears Take 56-43 District 23 Home Win over Tigers

The Timpson Bears varsity basketball team won a District 23 2A conference home game over the Tenaha Tigers on Friday by a 56-43 score. The win places the Bears at 18-12 overall and at 9-5 in district play. The Tigers stand at 25-9, 10-4.
Timpson led 8-6 midway through the first period and 13-11 going into the second quarter. They had built a 29-10 lead by the midway intermission. In the third period the Bears led 33-23 at the midpoint and 43-34 at the buzzer that ended the third quarter.
Timpson led 50-36 midway through the fourth stanza and held on to take the 56-43 win.
Tenaha was led scoring by Brikelian Kenney with 16 points and by Ja’torion Moore with 13 points. Timpson was led by JJ Garner who had a game-high 31 points and by Jackson Campbell with 13.
Timpson will finish the regular season on Tuesday, February 11 when they travel to Garrison Bulldogs Gymnasium for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
Tenaha will host the Joaquin Rams on Tuesday, February 11 at 6 p.m. at Tenaha Special Events Center.
