Lady Roughriders Horseshoe Ballpark on April 4, 2025 –
The Center Lady Roughriders varsity softball team improved their season mark to 5-19 with a 11-9 run home win over the Palestine Lady Wildcats on Friday. The win gives the Lady ‘Riders a 1-6 District 17 4A and keeps them alive with three conference games remaining.
Center held Palestine scoreless in the top of the first inning and they gained a 3-0 run advantage in the bottom of the first frame when they got scores by Destiny Arcibar, Madison Crawford and Harmony Berry.
Bella Adkinson led off the bottom of the second inning with a double to centerfield and she put CHS up 4-0 when she scored later on a passed ball.
Caitlyn Broussard doubled to drive in Adkinson and Crawford which gave CHS a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Emma Estrada doubled to drive in Wildcats teammates Vivian Eckerman and Kaddison Sanchez to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the fourth inning.
Center regained the lead when Crawford, Bailey Miller and Kasandra Moreno each scored to give Center a 9-6 lead by the end of the fourth frame.
Rachel Newton and Lauren Causey led off the bottom of the fifth inning with back-to-back singles and they each scored on balls which got behind the Lady Wildcats catcher which gave CHS a 11-6 lead.
PHS scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut Center’s lead to 11-9 but Center’s defense held the Lady Wildcats scoreless for the remainder of the game to earn the win.
Lady Roughriders pitcher Autumn Bennett gave up 11 hits, struck out 4 batters and walked three to earn the win.
Palestine used 4 pitchers who combined to strike out 1, walk 9 and give up 8 hits.
Center will host Madisonville next Tuesday, April 8, 2025 for a 6:45 p.m. District 17 game at CHS.
