Four of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams lost on Friday. The Timpson Bears were the only local team to win.
The Center Roughriders lost to the undefeated Carthage Bulldogs by a 60-14 score. The ‘Riders are now 2-4 on the season and they are 0-1 in District 8 4A-2 conference play. Center will host Bullard on Friday, October 17, 2025 for a 7:30pm kickoff at Roughrider Stadium. Bullard is 3-3 and 1-0 after beating Rusk by a 24-7 score.
The Joaquin Rams are 3-3 after suffering a narrow 28-21 loss at San Augustine. JHS is 0-1 in District 11 2A-1 play. They will host the Hemphill Hornets on Friday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m. Hemphill is 1-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play after suffering a 55-0 loss to the Timpson Bears.
Timpson is 3-3, 1-0 and they will play the Shelbyville Dragons at Shelbyville’s Dragons Stadium on Thursday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Dragons are 1-5 overall and 0-1 in District 11 2A-1 conference play after a 35-33 loss at Garrison.
The Tenaha Tigers are 1-6 overall and they are 0-3 in District 11 2A-2 play after a 59-21 loss at Alto. The Tigers will host the Mount Enterprise Wildcats on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are 6-0 overall and 0-2 in the conference after beating the Grapeland Sandies 68-50.
