
October 22, 2025 - Lori Ballard, the coordinator of the Promise Program at Panola College, spoke Tuesday, October 21st to sophomore students at Center High School about the exciting opportunity to earn free college tuition through the Promise Program.
Thanks to generous donations, eligible students can have their college tuition fully covered by simply meeting a few requirements.
Program Qualifications: (Sophomores)
- Must reside in Panola or Shelby County
- Must register for the program before November 30 (sophomore year)
- Must sign the official Promise Pledge
- Complete 25 hours of volunteer service each school year (for a total of 75 hours over 3 years)
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Submit the FAFSA during senior year
- Complete the Panola College Scholarship Application
- Students who move out of Panola or Shelby County will lose eligibility
As a token of appreciation, all participating students received a t-shirt and water bottle.
This program is a valuable opportunity for students to earn a college education without financial burden while also giving back to their community.
