November 6, 2025 - The Center High School senior class spent each Friday in October giving back to the community. It was a month full of teamwork and learning. Here's what they did and the impact they made together.

On October 10, seniors volunteered at Pine Grove Nursing home, spending time with the residents. Many played games, while others helped elderly residents with daily tasks and helped the staff organize fall decorations.
One of the students, Damayi P., shared, "Talking to the residents made me realize how much a simple conversation can brighten someone's day."

The Fannie Brown Booth Library book sale received the benefit of the “Seniors Giving Back” on October 17. At the library, the students helped organize books, cleaned up the children’s section, and helped the staffing with preparatory work for the book sale.
“I enjoyed helping the lovely ladies sort books and take difficult tasks off their shoulders,” shared High School senior Franil P..

The next stop was on October 24 at Shelby County Outreach Center where the students were greeted by the hard working staff and volunteers. Seniors aided them in folding and organizing clothes bins, cleaning up the facilities, and organizing miscellaneous goods onto shelves.
Senior, Heather L., said, "It felt good knowing that we were directly helping families in our community."
The final day of October, the senior class returned to visit Pine Grove Nursing Home for a Halloween visit! Senior volunteers accompanied the nursing home residents as they passed out candy to local children. They helped the residents participate in festivities including viewing the petting zoo and playing games.
Another senior spoke on the groups behalf, “We worked hard to help the event run smoothly, and I think it was a success being able to help the community on Halloween.”
Overall, the month showed the students that giving back doesn’t have to be big to make a difference. Whether it was helping at the library or spending time with the senior citizens, each Friday reminded them that kindness connects us all.
Finally, Aaron P. expressed, “ It wasn’t just volunteering, it was bonding with our class and helping our community.”
The Center High School shared, "We’re so proud of these students for showing leadership, compassion, and community spirit through their service."
