Janice C. Fenn Morris, 77, of Center, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Wells, Texas surrounded by family. She was born on September 9, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late J.C. Thomas Fenn and Doris Lynn (Gibson) Tigert.
Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Mangum Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 2PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Center, Texas, with Bro. Porter Brewer officiating. A family inurnment will follow at a later date.
Jan grew up in the Tater Hill area now known as a part of Arlington. She attended Tate Springs Baptist Church. She was a 1966 graduate of Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth. While growing up she enjoyed and was very skilled at horseback riding, water skiing, bowling and playing softball.
Jan married Marshel Morris right out of high school. She had three children, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 foster children and a bonus granddaughter. Jan was very proud of all of them. She enjoyed celebrating their birthdays, their weddings, their successes and spending time with them. She was also there for them when they had struggles. She didn’t mind bragging about them to anyone that was close enough to listen.
Jan moved from Arlington when Marshel got a job at E.L. Bruce Hardwood Floors. She has been an active community member in Center since the early 1970s. She has worked at many businesses over the years such as Sears, Payne and Payne, Tri-County Community Action, Mother’s Day Out and Shelby County Outreach. While she was a member of Junior Women’s Service League she worked to plan and set up the Community Park. She volunteered countless hours in her roles at First Baptist Church with things like VBS, GAs, Mission Friends, nursery coordinator, mission trips, Sunday school and most recently prayer coordinator. For many years she served as camp director for GA camp at Pineywoods Baptist Encampment in Groveton.
Through the years Jan has served as Brownie leader, Den leader, Scoutmaster’s wife, exchange student host, room mother, chauffeur for her children and then her grandchildren, ESL teacher, foster mother and much more.
Jan was the type of woman that when she saw someone in need she would try to help. She did so with empathy and love.
