Jerry Don Mahan, 73, of Center, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2026, in Center, Texas. He was born on April 1, 1952, in Center, Texas, to Edward Willie Mahan and Sylvia Christine (McSwain) Mahan.

Graveside service will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Old Salem Cemetery with Bro. Chris Collins officiating.

Jerry was raised in Pasadena, Texas and graduated high school in Deer Park, Texas in 1970. Jerry and wife Pam returned to his beloved piney woods in 1975 and lived his entire adult life in “The Sandhills” area south of Center. There Jerry began his career as a carpenter and contractor. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, lover of life, and lifelong appreciator of music especially the blues by the old delta style players plus the Chicago blues artists along with all the music of Bob Dylan which he so loved and most of which he knew at heart. Reading, Jeopardy, a fine meal, and conversation with a stranger were his true passions in life.

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Jerry will be missed by many. 

He is preceded in death by his father, E.W. Mahan; special friend/brother, George W. McNatt; and niece, Mandy Leigh Mahan Evans.

In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Shelby County Outreach Ministries, 735 Shelbyville St., Center, Texas, 75935.

Pallbearers serving will be Kenneth Windham, Jason Windham, Rex Hutto, David Gilchrist, Jason Stringer, Kyle Windham and Wheeler Carter. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Johnson, Ronnie Borders, and Gary Davis.
